Members of HKAOK / HKCCLS will strive for excellence in contact lens practice by becoming reflective and ethical practitioners. We will also strive for continuous quality enhancement of our profession and encourage the professional development of all members.
Any person of good character who has a license to practice optometry and contact lens is eligible to apply for membership.

HKAOK Fellowship Guidelines
Members who wish to qualify for and maintain Fellowship will be evaluated against the highest standards of professional competence. The acronym "FHKAOK" (Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Orthokeratology) signifies to colleagues and patients that rigorous qualification for Fellowship has been met.
**All criteria/requirements related to FHKAOK are subject to revision by HKAOK Council from time to time as Council see fit
Criteria for Fellowship
You need to

is registered with the Optometrist Board of Hong Kong to practise at the highest level permitted by law in the jurisdiction of Hong Kong
-
has good standing with the Optometrist Board of Hong Kong

has the annual Certificate of Achievement from the Hong Kong Optometrists Board for Continuing Education
-
has Professional Indemnity Insurance (Fellows in academia are exempted if they are not involved in private practice)
-
is a member of good standing of the HKAOK and HKCCLS
-
has attended 50% of the HKAOK continuing education program during the calendar year of the application
-
has submitted a non-refundable application fee of HKD $ 9800 along with the completed application form and Membership Pledge and Agreement before the deadline of the first of December of every year

have/work in an appropriately equipped practice which includes
-
Slit lamp
-
Corneal topographer
-
Clean and tidy practice with proper supply of tap water
-
Appropriate Information and Consent Form
-
Appropriate record form
-
Clean and tidy trial lens sets (where applicable)

Fellowship maintenance requirements
Once Fellowship is awarded, FHKAOK has to satisfy the following requirements to renew Fellowship every three years.

Live up to the requirements of a member as pledged and agreed when applying to be a Fellow

Practice orthokeratology in a properly equipped practice (see #6 above)

Attend the Annual Meeting (application approval is required for non-attendance)

Contribute to the Academy by serving on a committee when requested, to support educational and scientific programs, to encourage research to ensure that Fellows provide high-quality service

Recommend new candidates for Fellowship

Fulfill the requirements of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities which may include clinical practice, teaching, manuscript writing, and/or conference/CE presentation

A minimum of 10 hours of CPD activities per year approved by The Optometrists Board of Hong Kong will be required

Must accumulate at least 30 points over three years from the date the Fellowship was awarded (Please read the attachment)
Fellowship will be suspended if maintenance requirements are not satisfied. Procedures for reinstatement of Fellowship will be the same as a new application.
